Melinda West named affiliate vice president for finance and college controller | VTx
Melinda West has been named affiliate vice president for finance and university controller pursuing a nationwide research.
West, who served in the job on an interim basis since May possibly 2020, will guide the university’s financial and accounting functions, which include the common accounting, economical reporting, mounted assets and gear inventory providers, cost accounting, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bursar, and chance administration models.
She will also oversee the growth of economical procedures and treatments, fostering of potent college partnerships and collaboration, enhancements to university business processes, and other strategic initiatives within the Division of Finance.

West provides 25 yrs of Virginia Tech services and partnership to the placement. From 2010-2020, West served as college bursar, a role in which she prioritized collaboration with the Workplace of University Scholarships and Economical Help, Housing and Home Daily life, and other university entities to far better serve college students and households. West oversaw the operation of billing, collections, and accounting functions for University student Accounts and other college receivables and similar revenues. Her office environment was also liable for controlling the funds receipts technique, college banking interactions, and overseeing Virginia Tech’s compliance with applicable federal and state restrictions.

West is a licensed general public accountant and earlier served as an auditor with the Commonwealth of Virginia Auditor of General public Accounts. West gained a bachelor’s diploma in accounting from Radford University and a Master of Business enterprise Administration diploma from Averett College.

She and her partner David reside on a small beef cattle farm in Floyd County and are very pleased dad and mom of a 2020 Virginia Tech graduate.
